The "Why Dunhuang" Dunhuang Art Exhibition focuses on the culture, art, and history of the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang. In the form of "cultural relics + replicas of classic caves + murals and painted sculptures", a large number of highly representative and extremely rare first- and second-level precious cultural relics and copies are collected from the Dunhuang Academy, including cultural relics that are prohibited from exporting, and many cultural relics are exhibited in Shanghai for the first time. The classic grottoes of the Mogao Grottoes are reproduced 1:1 in the original grotto, allowing the audience to "see Dunhuang in Shanghai" immersively. This exhibition is an annual representative exhibition of Dunhuang art with "diversified exhibit categories, large exhibition scale, and scarce display content."
